Wild Child Literacy:
Inspiring a Love for Nature in Every Child
In a world where screen time dominates, Wild Child Literacy is on a mission to help children trade pixels for pine trees. Through our collection of stories, activities, and educational resources, we’re dedicated to encouraging outdoor play, fostering environmental stewardship, and nurturing a deep connection to the natural world.
Meet Jen: The Heart Behind Wild Child Literacy

Hi, I’m Jen!
I’m a wildlife enthusiast, passionate storyteller, and proud mom to two nature-loving kids. I’ve worked as a wildlife technician, tracking grizzly bears and testing various wildlife-friendly fence enhancements for pronghorn antelope. As a past community coordinator for WildlifeBC, I had the privilege of teaching wildlife safety classes.
My background in environmental education and wildlife conservation now fuels my focus on creating nature-inspired stories and educational resources that bring families and classrooms closer to the outdoors.
Why Wild Child Literacy Matters
Founded by Jen Baker, a former wildlife technician turned storyteller, Wild Child Literacy is rooted in a deep love of wildlife and a lifelong passion for outdoor exploration. Growing up on a family farm in Manitoba, Canada, Jen spent her days surrounded by animals, hay bale forts, and starry skies. This background in environmental education and wildlife conservation now fuels the mission to raise the next generation of stewards—kids who care for nature because they’ve grown up in it.
Through engaging tales and hands-on activities, I strive to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a love for the wild—one adventure at a time.
